Product information "APPLETREE Zapple S"
Overview
The Zapple S is Appletree’s next-generation trench board, built for advanced riders, smaller riders, and wave-focused foilers who want maximum performance in surf. Based on the original Zapple concept and developed alongside the AppleSlice Prone, it’s a compact, highly responsive foilboard made exclusively in performance sizes.
Key Features
-
Ultra-thin profile for maximum foil sensitivity and sharp turning
-
Pulled-in rails for more control and forgiveness in high-speed turns and wave maneuvers
-
Flat central rocker combined with continuous rail rocker for speed, glide, and agility
-
Light deck concave for comfort and a direct connection to the board
-
Full nose with V-entry for smoother touchdowns, better water deflection, and added support for prone paddling
-
“Signal Window” in the nose for seamless Foil Drive operation without foam inserts—plug in and ride
-
Inserts included as standard (offset options in the back, V in the front) to match your stance
Performance & Intended Use
The Zapple S was created as a smaller, more responsive alternative to the original Zapple—ideal for tighter turning and control in steeper waves, especially when using foil-assisted takeoffs. It is not a beginner board and is not intended for large foil setups. It performs best when paired with a Foil Drive for extra push to get going in waves (not flat water).
Foil Drive Compatibility (Gen2 / Fusion)
-
Stock boards are compatible with the Gen2 Foil Drive system
-
Custom boards can be made compatible with the Foil Drive Fusion system (larger battery, extends further forward than Gen2)
-
For Fusion, the recess/trench is extended by about 10 cm (around 4 inches) to allow more adjustment
-
It’s not recommended to add the longer recess if you don’t need it, as the larger open gap can significantly disturb waterflow
-
Adding Fusion compatibility reduces volume by 1 liter, and this is not compensated—keep this in mind when ordering
Construction (Foil Construction)
-
50K closed cell foam core (light, flexible, does not take in water, helps prevent blowouts when hot; rated to withstand 50,000 kg per square meter)
-
100% carbon fiber construction for stiffness, strength, maximum control, and more effective pumping
-
Reinforced foil mount area with CNC-cut precision; FUTURES oneshot boxes set in an ultra high density PET honeycomb panel, sandwiched in carbon (inside and outside)
-
Vacuum + resin injection lamination: reinforcements laid dry, air extracted, epoxy injected under pressure for tight lamination and a strong bond to reduce delamination; extra patches underfoot help prevent heel dents
-
High density insert blocks fused to the core so inserts won’t pull out; positioning can be customized
